I’m pretty sure we’re going to run out of Justice pictures so instead of a badass picture of the cross, here’s an awkward one of Xavier and Gaspard doing a fairy dance.
Justice just posted a few songs on their Myspace of their live acts and they are a great reflection of how inventive they are when DJing….and perfect if you want to relive your moment at the A Cross the Universe Tour. The CD (live in San Francisco) and the DVD both come out November 24th.

Simian Mobile Disco is definitely one of the artists on my list to see live (I think free show at the Apple Store doesn’t really count) so when this mix came out, I got super excited. All you need is 8 pillars of light blinking in sync with the music and you’re set. Beware; its a 56 minute set.

There hasn’t been too much on the front of new releases minus the millions and millions of autotuned Kanye songs but they are all pretty much the same song reworked with varying degrees of autotuner and with or without T-Pain. Kid Sister’s new single, “Get Fresh” was just released on RCRDLBL. I actually like this one more than “Family Reunion” which was only sort of okay. “Get Fresh” has more of a 80s rap beat to it and sounds great..totally the product of A-Trak and XXXChange.
Also make sure to catch Kid Sister at Bowery Ballroom in New York, November 24th.

Justice is touring to promote their documentary “A Cross the Universe” and if you are like me, you are probably pissing your pants until the date they come. Its been said that Justice’s DJ set is a lot better than their actual live shows..I’m going to have to agree but you can judge for yourself. This mix is from a year ago at Justice’s Fader party and is still pretty amazing even when hearing it now. A more recent mix can be found here

This is a little delayed with all the CMJ madness going on but a recap from last weekend. Dan Deacon’s crazy shitshow, Baltimore Round Robin, wrapped up in New York last weekend. Heres a little song in case you missed out. The Death Set is more of a punk band but mixed together with Dan Deacon’s electro genius (dude has a masters in electroacoustic composition…whatever that means), the remix of “Impossible” is pretty awesome.

I love that Kanye posts previews and now actual mp3s of his upcoming songs. This one’s unmastered though so you have to wait to get the HQ version. Mr. Oizo’s Lambs Anger is coming out November 17th. “Steroids” is one of my favorite tracks from the couple that I’ve heard off of Lambs Anger…I know Uffie gets a lot of heat out there and for good reason too. Despite the fact that I think her rhymes are kind of lame, for some reason I just love the way she flows. Its not particularly complicated and her lyrics don’t really make sense at all but shes totally a guilty pleasure.

I finally copped Jazmine Sullivan’s new album the other day just because “Bust Your Windows” has got to be my favorite song out right now and “Need U Bad” took over the radio this summer (I literally belted it out like I meant it with so much friggin’ bleedin’ emotion every time it came on).
Fearless is really a solid debut (…on J records. She released a forgetful effort in 2003). Just found out the girl is only 21. Dang! Going through the album, I was refreshingly surprised to find a Daft Punk sample (”Veridis Quo”) on the Missy Elliot produced track, “Dream Big.” “Veridis Quo” is an alltime favorite with its eerie core and pleasant and understated buildup. Sometimes samples are done oh so right when it makes the song: Kanye also taking from Daft Punk on “Stronger.” And sometimes samples are done oh so wrong when it only distracts from the song: the Numa Numa song on T.I. and Rihanna’s “Livin the Life.” What the heck is that about? I immediately think about the Numa Numa guy. So sexy btw. Maybe it depends on the sample.
I can’t make my mind up with “Dream Big.” See for yourself.

“Cross the Dancefloor” is one of my favorite songs and remixes of my favorite songs are always hard to digest because nothing ever compares to the original. Leave it Chromeo to make Treasure Fingers even more danceable and funkier.

Esau Mwamwaya’s got a strange story to “fame”; he lived a block away from where Radioclit’s studio was and happened to sell a bike to them which was the start of their collaborating. His fame on the blogsphere nowadays I think is a clear indication of how democratic music has already become and also another sign that blog house isn’t the only thing that people on the internet care about. Esau’s music is a very refreshing take on internet hits. Esau Mwamwaya and Radioclit’s mixtape is dropping on November 1st and they’ve decided to release high quality versions of 3 songs. Check out:

“Shempi” is Ratatat’s new single; I know its been floating around the blogosphere for a bit now but the video is apparently newly released. Reminds me of The Knife’s live shows…just a tad bit freaky to watch and after going to the Ratatat show in Terminal 5 last week and seeing it blown up on a large screen, its a hard image to get out of your head. Nice to know that somebody out there still cares about ABBA though.
